Wednesday April 26, 2000
    Discussion sections for this Friday, April 28 will be held as one large group in the regular classroom, Anderson 330.

    The final exam questions will be handed out on Wednesday, May 3 in class.

    ***The final exam is Saturday, May 13 from ***1:30-3:30*** in Anderson 330. Please note that this time is different than the time stated incorrectly on the syllabus.****
Monday April 17, 2000
    We will switch the order of the last two readings for discussion sections. For this Friday, April 21, read chapters 1 & 5 by Keck and Sikkink from Activists Beyond Borders. The immigration reading by Carens will be discussed in the section on April 28.

    Students who have done an internship for their term assignment will make a presentation of about 10 minutes to class on Wednesday May 3. Those students who have worked at the same organization are encouraged to do a group presentation. In your presentation you should tell the class the following: what organization you worked for, what that organization does, how effective you think it is, what theoretical perspective underlies the organization's work, what you did for that organization, and what you learned from the experience.
Friday April 7, 2000
    For Topic XII, please read in addition to the web articles chapter 5 in the Douglas Lackey book, The Ethics of War and Peace, "Nuclear War and Nuclear Deterrence.

    The term paper due date has been changed: it will now be due on **Monday, April 24**, not Friday, April 21.

    This Friday, March 10, will be a regular lecture in Anderson Hall 330. There will *not* be discussion sections this Friday. Discussion sections will resume next week.
Friday February 4, 2000
    There are two changes to the syllabus:
    • The Topic X reading has been moved to Topic III, so for discussion sections on Friday February 11 please read Richard Miniter, "The False Promise of Slave Redemption," and the two response letters.
    • The analytic paper due date will be moved back one week. This assignment will now be due Monday, February 28.
Monday January 31, 2000
    Rooms for the Friday discussion sections have been changed. Group 1 will meet in Blegen 425, Group II will meet in Blegen 435. Both groups meet at the regular class time.
