| What might Neil Postman have to say about the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum's revisions of American history? Apparently the purpose of a museum is not to preserve the past, or to broaden contemporary citizens' understanding of their nation and its traditions, but to present the past in the terms (literally) of the present. How else could a museum make money today, but by entertaining the public? |
